Travel to Bangkok several times and each time I will explore new food places. Thanks to our local tour guide, Chin who brought us around.
Mae Varee fruit stall @ Thong Lor. This shop offers the best mango sticky rice in town using a special recipe for over 70 years. Sticky rice here comes in 3 flavours with different natural colours. The good thing about this sidewalk vendor is it opens 24hours so you can come anytime you want. We got there about 12 midnight, packed 2 mango sticky rices and went back hotel to chill and nom in our bed. I've to say the combination of sticky rice, mango, nuts, and fresh milk is so so good!
Mr. Jones' Orphanage @ Siam center. The pictures of varieties of cakes and wonderland deco have long attracted me before I flew there. Got some bad reviews from friends telling me that their desserts are not as good as what they look, but I think they just didn't order the right ones. We had lemon meringue, passion fruit sponge cake with berries cream, chocolate and marshmallow waffle, and Jones' secret (something like brownies) for sharing. I love all of them except the brownies which I find it too sweet. Maybe because I'm not a chocolate-cake person.
ChibaCham @ Sukhumvit 39. Just because I said I want to try the huge fried chicken, Chin brought us here and ordered the exact same portion for only 8 of us. 3kg madness noodles and more than 60 pieces chicken. Chin beat us all by eating 18 pieces of chicken, I only managed to eat 4. T___T I honestly think these portions can serve more than 20 persons. The restaurant do serve food in smaller portion. So worry not, now you know you can order the correct portion when you visit. Besides food, its melon soda is highly recommended too.
Nikko Café @ Ekkamai. This Japanese-themed cafe is redecorated to have an outdoor area as a vertical garden that allows customers to have a bit more privacy while hanging out with friends meanwhile enjoying shisha with their list of signature cocktails. For the non-alcohol group, you can enjoy a variety of coffees with matcha. I tried matcha latte and pavlova with passion fruit meanwhile Chin has ice blended chocolate because he doesn't drink coffee. I would come again for the coffee, maybe not so much for the cakes :/
Feat. BKK @ Saphan Hua Chang (Elephant Head Bridge). The first glance walking in this tiny cafe, I didn't expect much. But I was definitely wrong by judging the book by its cover. Chef O is very creative in making American classics. Cheese balls (Mac 'n Cheese), cheesy fries with bacon, and barbeque pork ribs were all very good.
That are pretty much all the new good food I had while traveling around Bangkok. There are more to explore, hopefully next year.
Keep noming, won't stopping :D
