St. Jerome's Laneway Music Festival marked my first party of 2015. Set against a striking CBD backdrop at Gardens by the Bay, an impressive line-up of live music acts from Australia, Singapore and around the world graced the three stages featuring a star-studded line-up, taking most of its bulk from the Australian one, with eccentric songstress St Vincent and indie's well-kept treasure Little Dragon among the top picks. Plus, there's American sweetheart BANKS, British post-punk five piece Eagulls, psychedelic rock band POND, American synthpop outfit Future Islands, rising Australian dead-pan artist Courtney Barnett, Canadian indie rocker Mac DeMarco (and Agnes, his mum), Mercury-nominated FKA Twigs, bass-heavy rock duo Royal Blood, Scottish noisemaker Rustie and funk-soul music makers Jungle to look out for. And don't forget Australian folk act Angus and Julia Stone, as well as up-and-coming electronic producer Chet Faker.
Here are the Malaysia-Singapore represents and some festival junkies @ Laneway Festival Singapore.
Few things we learnt at Laneway Festival Singapore:
1. Bring your own mat / float. We ended up sitting on the raincoat they provided. I wonder why Malaysia's music festival has never provided that > <'''
2. Bring glowing sticks to have better photography moment.
3. Clean your own trashes because you don't want them to end up on your mat/whatever you are sitting on.
I'm now struggling to recover from the greatness of this alternative musical year-opener that transpired over the weekend for the weeks to come.
What's next? Splendour Festival perhaps?
x
